DCMA Springfield hosts contractor industry day

By Cher Mount DCMA Springfield

Defense Contract Management Agency Springfield held its first industry day for government contractors on Sept. 6.

The contract management office provides services to more than 6,100 contracts valued at over $33 billion.

Approximately 120 contractors attended the event, and the majority of them own or work for small businesses located in northern and central New Jersey.

DCMA Springfield’s commander, Army Col. Jay Ferreira, and CMO group leaders provided overview briefings, and representatives from DCMA headquarters, the Defense Logistics Agency, and the New Jersey Procurement Technical Assistance Center, also made presentations. The briefing topics included: doing business with DLA; procurement technical assistance, with an emphasis on small business advocacy; transportation update; corrective action requests; cyber awareness; and counterfeit risk mitigation.

Also, DCMA subject matter experts discussed the importance and value added of the agency during the administration of the procurement process.

“The industry day attendees gave the event high marks for the value of the information presented and strongly support conducting this event annually,” said Ferreira. “The event provided a valuable platform for DCMA Springfield and the contractors in its area of responsibility to continue to stress the continued need for cost effective, high quality, and timely goods and services in support of warfighters.”
