Critical Days of Summer are Upon Us

By DCMA Public Affairs DCMA Public Affairs

According to the Nation Safety Council, an American is accidentally injured every second and killed every three minutes by a preventable event – a drug overdose, a vehicle crash, a fall, a drowning, or another preventable incident.

In 2016 alone, preventable deaths rose 10 percent with a total of 14,803 more people dying accidentally in 2016 than in 2015.

With the summer months often meaning getting in the car and driving to far-away vacation spots to enjoy water activities, it’s easy to see why there is a large spike in accidental injuries and deaths during the summer months.

It’s statistics like these which motivate the Defense Contract Management Agency’s promotion of the annual Critical Days of Summer safety campaign.

“Everyone plays a critical role in combating accidental injuries and death”, said Raymond Corral, DCMA Safety and Occupation Health manager. “Absolutely everyone needs to do their part. This is truly a team effort and everyone is a player.”

To see what part you can play in being a team player in keeping yourself and your fellow team members safe, during these important summer months, review the Critical Days of Summer safety brief that is accessible here (login required).
