My DCMA: Lauri Chlebus, contract administrator

By LaTonya Johnson DCMA Public Affairs

My DCMA showcases the Defense Contract Management Agency’s experienced and diverse workforce and highlights what being a part of the national defense team means to them. Today, Lauri Chlebus shares her story.

My name is Lauri Chlebus, and this is “My DCMA.”

I am a contract administrator at DCMA Aircraft Integrated Maintenance Operations St. Augustine in Florida.

My job duties include a full range of contract functions up to the point of signature, including contract administration and contract closeout. My contract administration functions include funds cancelation, funds reconciliation, database integrity, and monitoring contract performance for compliance to applicable laws, delivery schedules, and payment provisions. Contract closeout activities include ensuring that all contract deliveries are complete and have been inspected and accepted by the government, according to contract requirements, and ensuring that all administrative actions have been resolved.

In addition, I am an active member of the local contract management office’s Tier II leadership development program. I was also selected to participate in the pilot program for the Standard Contract Reconciliation Tool, and I am the back-up site manager for DCMA360.

Some of the great things about working at my location includes living and working in Florida. I enjoy the sun, sandy beaches, the beautiful Atlantic Ocean, and of course, the great team I am privileged to work with every day.

I have been a part of the DCMA team for almost four years. I started my DCMA experience with DCMA AIMO in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

I like working at DCMA because I find the work challenging and rewarding, both professionally and personally. I came to DCMA from the corporate world with many years of accounting and treasury management experience. This prior experience, along with my project management degree, prepared me for the wonderful world of contracting in DCMA. Working at DCMA offers me the opportunity for professional and personal growth, by the continuing education opportunities, as well as the amazing work-life balance that is afforded me. I am truly blessed and very thankful for this agency and my team.

DCMA is important to America’s warfighters because the agency is responsible for getting a quality product, on budget, and on-time, to the warfighters. Our role is to protect the government and ensure that the expected level of quality is met for services, supplies, support, and equipment.

I am excited to see DCMA continue to grow and further perfect its support to warfighters. During my time working for the agency, I have seen changes to enhance our customer support. For example, the Aircraft Integrated Maintenance Operations became its own command.

My goal for this year is to continue to support my team and the agency as a whole, in every way that I can. I want to continue to hone my skills to better meet my customers’ needs. My future career goal is to become a warranted administrative contracting officer.

In my free time, I enjoy traveling, playing golf, swimming, boating, biking, and hiking. I enjoy running 5K races, putting together puzzles, and spending time with my family and friends. Something unique about me is that I always strive to make everyone feel important and included, as I never want anyone to feel left out and or left behind.
