Air Force Chief Master Sergeant Adam E. Rising is the Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Defense Contract Management Agency, Fort Lee, Virginia. In this capacity, he advises the director on the health, welfare, professional development and utilization of the agency’s joint enlisted force. The agency consists of around 12,000 civilian and military personnel who execute worldwide contract management responsibilities, covering more than 19,000 contractors and authorizing over $675 million every day in payments.
Chief Rising grew up as a Navy “brat” and signed up for the Air Force Delayed Enlistment Program as a senior in high school in January 1993. He enlisted in January of 1994, and entered the Aircrew Egress Systems career field. He earned an Associates of Applied Science Degree in Aircraft Maintenance Technology from the Community College of the Air Force in 2005, a Professional Management Certificate in 2012 and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Management in 2013 from the American Military University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude.
Chief Rising’s military schools include Airman Leadership School where he was awarded Distinguished Graduate, Non-commissioned Officer Academy, Senior Non-commissioned Officer Academy and the Chiefs Leadership Course.
His assignments span the Air Education and Training Command, United States Air Forces in Europe, Air Combat Command, and the Air Force Materiel Command. He served as Quality Assurance Inspector, 31st Maintenance Group, Aviano AB, Italy, Egress Section Non-commissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC) and Production Superintendent, 4th Component Maintenance Squadron, Seymour Johnson AFB, NC, and Egress Systems Manager, Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, Robins AFB, GA. Chief Rising’s prior assignment was Superintendent, 550th Fighter Squadron, Kingsley Field, OR, where he led the standup of the largest Total Force Integration Fighter Squadron in the Air Education and Training Command. He also served in various deployed locations for Operations NORTHERN WATCH, SOUTHERN WATCH and ENDURING FREEDOM.
Chief Rising’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Air Force Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster and Air Force Achievement Medal with one oak leaf cluster.
