My DCMA: William Glover, contract administrator

By Alun Thomas DCMA Public Affairs

My DCMA showcases the Defense Contract Management Agency’s experienced and dedicated workforce and highlights what being a part of the national defense team means to them. Today, William Glover shares his story.

My name is William Glover, and this is my DCMA.

I work as a contract administrator at Aircraft Propulsion Operations General Electric, here, and I administer 52 engine contracts valued over $800 million. I’m also the final delivery date and material weakness 3 metric holder for APO GE. I’ve worked for DCMA as an Air Force reservist since 2016. As a civilian, I’ve been at Evendale for seven years.

I love the Cincinnati area and the people, and our office is a hidden gem inside DCMA. I work alongside a lot of good people, every day. I’ve worked at six federal contracting offices in my career as an active-duty Airman, reservist, and civilian. This is easily the best place I’ve worked at. I’ve enjoyed working with the contractor as we’ve built a strong partnership with them. Also, you know their strengths and weaknesses better.

As both a reservist and civilian inside DCMA, I get to see the entirety of the process from contract award all the way to the product reaching our warfighters. There is a great sense of pride knowing that you’re a small part of the process that ensures the safety and security of our nation and my fellow brothers and sisters in arms.

My career has come full circle as early in my career I worked on HH-60 Pave Hawks which had the T700 GE engines. I now offer contracting support for the same engine. I have a real sense of satisfaction knowing the things I do have a direct impact down range.

I believe our contract support mission is important to the American warfighter because it ensures they have the equipment, supplies and services they need to operate effectively and safely. Being a uniformed service member, I’ve seen the direct impact to the mission without worrying whether the products will perform, show-up, or even be there at all. I owe a debt of gratitude to the DCMA team who is 100 percent behind me when I’m deployed.

I was a contingency contracting officer in US Air Forces in Europe setting up NATO exercises in Eastern Europe, and I really enjoyed that aspect of my career. Now as a civilian contract administrator I think the next step would be to turn that knowledge and experience into a high performing contracting officer. I’m also retiring from the Air Force Reserve this fall so I look forward to wearing one hat and not two.

I love spending time with my family, reading history and classic fiction books, and I’m about to finish my master’s degree in theological studies this fall.
