FULLERTON, Calif. –
My DCMA showcases the Defense Contract Management Agency’s experienced and dedicated workforce and highlights what being a part of the national defense team means to them. Today, Grecia Aviles shares her story.
My name is Grecia Aviles, and this is "My DCMA."
I am a procurement technician, or PT, assigned to DCMA Radars and Sensors and work with the Raytheon West team in Fullerton, California. I joined the agency in 2018 and started as a Workforce Recruitment Program employee supporting the Western Region staff.
I support contract administration by reviewing, validating and processing procurement documentation in the Department of Defense’s legacy contract management and payment processing system called MOCAS, short for Mechanization of Contract Administration Services.
I ensure accurate and timely contract input, resolve discrepancies, and maintain clear communication with cross-functional teams, contractors, and key personnel. In addition to my core duties, I monitor and manage several reports to ensure prompt issue resolution and payment processing. I'm certified as a trusted agent and direct input clerk, which allows me to perform specialized actions that streamline contract closeouts and support contract integrity.
Beyond the technical side, I take pride in leading training sessions, developing internal tools and checklists to improve processes and briefing leadership on reporting developments. I’m actively involved in agency-wide working groups where I collaborate on solutions to improve workload management and advance PT capabilities. It’s a busy role, but I genuinely love to problem-solve and the teamwork. It feels good to know that my work helps keep things moving in support of the mission.
The camaraderie, supportive leadership and culture of collaboration make my location a great place to work. We have a strong team, and our leadership listens and encourages us to grow. I’ve had the chance to take on challenging responsibilities and the opportunity to contribute ideas that are put into action, which makes me feel valued.
In my previous roles at Western Region, one of the biggest takeaways was that it’s about serving the people. The relationships, the mentorship and the teamwork I experienced there helped shape how I approach my work now. I’ve carried that mindset with me into Radars and Sensors, and I still lean on those lessons every day.
I also enjoy working in groups and committees like the Connections Committee where I get to help plan events and contribute to positive changes across the office and even at the agency level. Whether it’s a big project, PT support or a cultural event, there’s always something that brings people together. Working here has helped me grow, feel supported and stay connected to the bigger picture, and that makes a huge difference in how I show up every day.
I am proud of and enjoy working at DCMA. It’s fulfilling to know the work I do directly supports our nation’s defense. I’ve grown a lot here — professionally and personally — all thanks to great mentors, leadership support and opportunities to be part of meaningful changes across the PT field.
DCMA’s mission is about ensuring warfighters get the equipment and support they need, on time, at the right price and with the quality they deserve. As a procurement technician, I’m part of that process at the ground level. Although my work is behind the scenes, it plays a direct role in keeping things moving. Accurate inputs and timely actions help avoid delays and keep everything running smoothly. Supporting the mission from the PT side makes me proud, because every detail of every report I file helps keep our military equipped and ready.
I aim to grow into a leadership role where I can continue mentoring others, support strategic initiatives and drive innovation within the contract administration and PT community. I want to continue building my career in the Contracts Directorate while also helping improve and expand programs like the Workforce Recruitment Program. As a WRP graduate, I’m passionate about creating opportunities for others, and I hope to play a part in strenthening those pathways.I’m currently attending school and working toward earning more business certifications for future growth and leadership opportunities. I’ve also had the chance to support automation efforts within the agency, and I’m excited about the future of that work. I hope to stay involved in future modernization efforts that streamline how we do business across DCMA.
I think what makes me unique is that even without a formal title, I naturally step up to lead. Whether it’s organizing PT briefs, supporting improvement efforts, or guiding teammates through challenges, I enjoy bringing people together. I try to be someone others can count on, not just for help with a task, but for positive energy and encouragement, too. I think because I come from a large, family-oriented background, I bring that same mindset to my team by creating a space where people feel supported, included and connected. I try to carry DCMA’s values of integrity, service and excellence in everything I do.
I have a lot of hobbies, but a few of my favorites are gardening, hiking, baking, and doing arts and crafts. I also love spending time with my family, exploring local coffee shops and planning seasonal events.
