FORT EUSTIS, Va. –
My DCMA showcases the Defense Contract Management Agency’s experienced and diverse workforce and highlights what being a part of the national defense team means to them. Today we meet Brenda Goodrich.
My name is Brenda Goodrich, and this is “My DCMA.”
I am the Mission Support Office chief at DCMA Hampton based at Fort Eustis, Virginia.
My job duties include managing a fantastic team of nine people who oversee a variety of job functions, including travel, budget, training, safety, government vehicles, employee wellness activities, and the employee onboarding process.
I have been a part of the DCMA team for almost three years.
I like working at DCMA because I think it is a great place to work. There are so many benefits that are offered to employees, including telework, maxi-flex schedules, and monetary award opportunities. DCMA Hampton’s chain of command is outstanding as they truly care for their employees. That is something that is not always found in other government agencies.
DCMA is important to America’s warfighters because they do not need to wonder, “Is this piece of gear going to work? Is this safe. Is it going to do the job that I need it to do?” It is because of DCMA that they receive their quality products on time and that those items are going to work.
My favorite hobby is fishing. I like going out on a lake, river, or ocean to fish as there is something calm about sitting and doing nothing and then getting the thrill of hooking a fish or being about to brag about the one that got away.
My future career goals include working in human resources as my master’s degree is in that career field. I am also interested in eventually becoming a member in the Senior Executive Service in the human resources area, but I’m also very happy where I am now as an MSO chief.
Some of the great things about working at DCMA Hampton includes enjoying all of the four seasons out of the year. There are also a lot of things to do in the Hampton Roads area, and I like my job being located on a military installation near my home. And last but not least, I am surrounded by water. I can’t fish without water.
