My DCMA: Toniette Wood, financial specialist

By Jason Kaneshiro DCMA Eastern Region Public Affairs

My DCMA showcases the Defense Contract Management Agency’s experienced and diverse workforce and highlights what being a part of the national defense team means to them. Today we meet Toniette Wood.

My name is Toniette “Toni” Wood, and this is “My DCMA.”

I am a Financial Specialist at DCMA Baltimore and my job duties include performing various financial management functions involving the planning, justification and execution of budgets for the organization.

I have been a part of the DCMA team for a year, so far. I like working at DCMA because the interactions I have with my internal customers bring me joy. When providing good customer service, it allows me to represent our mission support office group and our agency as a whole. When an individual receives great customer service, they often decide to become a returning customer.

DCMA is important to America’s warfighters because we support the warfighters, which is critical when equipment is being manufactured, tested and purchased. The end result not only protects lives, it saves lives.

My favorite hobbies include traveling, photography and scrapbooking.

My future career goals include obtaining my Financial Management Level 2 certification and learning more about potential growth opportunities with DCMA.

Something unique about me is that I have been casted as an extra in a few movies with big name actors.

Some of the great things about working at my location includes the leadership and genuineness of the people. DCMA Baltimore is like family.

Twenty years ago I was living in the state I call home, Alaska, with my husband and child. I was working at a financial institution where I started as a teller and then became a new-accounts representative.

I’m still fairly new to DCMA, but since I have been here, the agency has been be very flexible and resilient during this season of COVID-19.

As we celebrate our 20th anniversary, what are you most excited about concerning DCMA’s future?  I am excited to celebrate the fact that DCMA is an agency that is about the people, internal and external. The mission is not the mission without the people, and it is exemplified in DCMA.

My personal goals for 2021 are to end out this calendar year more knowledgeable about the job and to do as much as I can to support my leadership and my colleagues.
