My DCMA: Shannon Lee, senior management analyst

By Tonya Johnson DCMA Central Region Public Affairs

My DCMA showcases the Defense Contract Management Agency’s experienced and dedicated workforce and highlights what being part of the national defense team means to them. Today, Shannon Lee shares her story.

My name is Shannon Lee, and this is “My DCMA.” I am a senior management analyst in the Mission Support Operations office at DCMA South based in Fort Worth, Texas. I provide strategic guidance and analytical support to senior leadership on a wide range of organizational matters, including hiring, restructuring and workforce planning. I analyze complex data sets to assess the effectiveness of current operations and recommend improvements to enhance performance and efficiency. I manage key functions related to manpower alignment, staffing documents and hiring metrics. My work often involves using advanced software and data tools to develop reports, dashboards and visual presentations that support leadership’s strategic goals and priorities.

I have been a part of the DCMA team for six years. I like working at DCMA because I’m part of a mission-driven organization that directly impacts our nation’s defense. I also enjoy the collaborative environment and opportunities for professional growth.

Some of the great things about working at my location include the welcoming atmosphere, the professionalism of the team and the strong collaboration between departments. It’s a place where people are approachable, ideas are valued, and everyone is committed to supporting the mission.

DCMA is important to America’s warfighters because we ensure they receive the highest quality equipment and services on time and ready for action. As someone who previously served in the military, I understand firsthand how critical it is to have reliable, mission-ready support. Our work directly impacts the safety, readiness and success of those on the front lines.

Since joining DCMA, I’ve seen the agency embrace more automation and digital tools, which has improved efficiency and made communication and collaboration smoother across locations. I’ve had the opportunity to be at the forefront of this initiative by developing multiple automation tools, and some of them are now being considered for agency-wide implementation.

In 2025, my goals are to enhance team collaboration, improve internal processes, and continue promoting a positive and results-driven work environment. I aim to further expand automation efforts within the MSO by aligning with the agency’s growing focus on innovation and efficiency. I’m proud to contribute to the initiatives that support DCMA’s mission and help position it as one of the leading agencies in the federal government.

My future career goals include pursuing leadership opportunities within DCMA and continuing to mentor and support others in their professional development. I love helping people, and I strive to build networks so I can help others connect and grow in their careers.

Something unique about me is that I have two bachelor’s degrees and two master’s degrees. Before joining the Navy, I served as a correctional officer for two years in Michigan. I’m also a Vampire Diaries superfan. I have an entire room in my house dedicated to the show, and I have met almost the entire cast at various conventions over the years.

My favorite hobbies include traveling, experiencing new cultures, watching women’s basketball and attending Dallas Wings basketball games. I enjoy attending live concerts and spending quality time with my family. I especially enjoy cheering on my son at his soccer games.
