My DCMA: Julianne Lambiasi, senior industrial specialist

By Tonya Johnson DCMA Central Region Public Affairs Office

My DCMA showcases the Defense Contract Management Agency’s experienced and dedicated workforce and highlights what being part of the national defense team means to them. Today, Julianne Lambiasi shares her story.

My name is Julianne Lambiasi, and this is “My DCMA.” I am a senior industrial specialist at DCMA Great Lakes in Arlington Heights, Illinois. I have been a part of the DCMA team for almost seven years.

My job duties include performing risk assessments and analyses on relevant customer, supplier and government data to identify performance results and prepare reports for presentation to the contract management office’s senior leadership team. Additionally, I perform contract reviews as well as manufacturing and delivery surveillance on assigned contractors to identify potential schedule delays. I also provide recommendations for the buying activities aimed at improving contractor on-time delivery performance on a variety of items, including aerospace electronics.

Some of the great things about working at my location include the supportive and collaborative team environment. My colleagues are always willing to help and offer guidance whenever needed.

I like working at DCMA because the agency provides a wide range of opportunities for career growth and diverse experiences. I began my career as a quality assurance specialist at DCMA Chicago where I had the opportunity to work with multiple contractors and gain exposure to the variety of products that DCMA oversees. Being a QAS provided a solid foundation for my transition into resident electronics engineer position at DCMA Chicago based in Rolling Meadows, Illinois. I worked on the Common Infrared Countermeasures and the Department of Navy’s Large Aircraft Infrared Countermeasures programs before moving into my current role as a senior industrial specialist and data miner. I was also fortunate to participate and graduate from the agency’s Tier II Leadership Development Program in 2022. Through that experience, I collaborated with a diverse group of DCMA professionals from across the agency and benefited from the guidance of a mentor who helped me visualize and pursue my desired career path.

DCMA is important to America’s warfighters because we ensure the success of every stage in the acquisition process. DCMA employees contribute to delivering high-quality and contract-compliant products on time by directly supporting the mission of the armed forces.

DCMA has changed over the years. Since I started working for the agency, DCMA has made significant strides in providing additional resources and systems that enhance efficiency, particularly in accessing contractor data. There has also been a strong push toward standardization and maintaining open lines of communication across the CMOs.

My goal for this year is to continue excelling in my current role while actively seeking opportunities to contribute to special projects. I aim to broaden my understanding by gaining exposure to how different functions within the agency operate, which will allow me to develop a more comprehensive skill set and enhance my ability to support the agency’s overall mission. My future career goals include continuing to grow and learn in my current role, with the aim of advancing into a position where I can have a broader impact.

My favorite hobbies include running, walking my dog Wilson, cooking, and exploring new foods and restaurants. Something unique about me is that I have a personal goal to visit all 50 states and run a marathon in each one. So far, I have visited 20 states and have run a marathon in nine of them.
