Ohio River Valley honors law enforcement

By DCMA Ohio River Valley

Four Defense Contract Management Agency Ohio River Valley employees participated in “The Challenge” fitness competition May 12.

The 88th Security Forces Squadron here hosted the event to recognize law enforcement during National Police Week, which was May 11-15.

The history of the event dates back to 1962. During that year, President John Kennedy selected May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and designated the entire week that it falls within as National Police Week. The event recognizes and remembers law enforcement who died in the line of duty. During this year’s event, the 88th Security Forces Squadron partnered with local law enforcement to host a series of events to celebrate, honor and remember these heroes.

“The Challenge” was open to military, civilian and law enforcement personnel to participate. During the competition, teams of four navigated an obstacle course that included rowing, tire flips, box jumps and exercises with full ammo cans. The circuit course ended with a 50-meter High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle push. Teams with the fastest times received awards.

The ORV team called “The Flying Fortresses” included Air Force Col. Geoffrey Levine, contract management office commander; Todd Krulcik, Mission Support Office chief; Thomas “T.J.” Reaster, program integrator; and Shane Griffiths, contract administrator. The team completed the course in 7 minutes and 34 seconds. The Huber Heights Police Department’s Emergency Response Team won the competition with a time of 6 minutes and 59 seconds. “The Flying Fortresses’” accomplishments were recognized, however, as they were the oldest team and the only team that to include civilians.

“It was a thrill to compete in the competition and recognize the sacrifice of our nation’s law enforcement. This event also allowed us to bolster the partnership between DCMA Ohio River Valley and our host, the 88th Air Base Wing,” said Levine. “I am especially proud of how well the entire team performed and represented DCMA. I was particularly grateful to compete alongside Todd Krulcik, a retired Air Force Security Forces chief master sergeant, in an event honoring police.”

DCMA ORV is a part of the Geographic & Systems Support Command. The new command structure stood up in October 2025 as a part of DCMA Vision, which realigned the contract management offices to provide more efficient support to America’s warfighters.

DCMA ORV’s 300 personnel execute a full spectrum of contract administration services, quality assurance and manufacturing oversight across Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana and Michigan. Their workload includes approximately 17,000 contracts and $55 billion in obligations. The team provides support to numerous aircraft, munitions and weapon systems across the Department of War and NASA.

DCMA ORV program support includes the F-35 Lightning II, F-15 Eagle, F-16 Fighting Falcon, T-7A Red Hawk, Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft, MH-60 Seahawk, Phalanx Close-In Weapon System, Stryker armored vehicle, Sentinel missile system, M1 Abrams tank, and more. DCMA ORV is the lead contract management office for the Air Force landing gear program, Air Force Simulator Program and the Special Operations Forces Support Activity.

“DCMA is committed throughout the year to partnering with the Air Force and other military customers to make sure our warfighters get what they need to stay mission ready,” said Levine. “These types of events like ‘The Challenge’ help us maintain and increase our camaraderie and partnership of working together as a team at DCMA Ohio River Valley to ensure our military personnel doing their jobs around the world are successful.”
