DCMA Public Affairs –
My name is Dean Cowart, and this is “My DCMA.”
I am a lead quality assurance specialist at Defense Contract Management Agency Atlanta based in Warner Robins, Georgia.
My job duties include everything from reviewing surveillance plans, process reviews, and command reports to numerous other tasks as assigned by my supervisor.
I have been a part of the DCMA team for 19 years, having served as an information technology professional for four of those years, serving the DCMA teams assigned throughout the southern region. When local servers were moved to a more central location, I was allowed the pleasure to train into the quality assurance program and have served over 10 years as an ammunitions and weapons QAS, and now as lead.
I enjoy working at DCMA because the atmosphere is one of completion. Your opportunities are only restricted to your willingness to travel. With jobs around the world, you’re limitless. DCMA also is a wholesome agency where family is placed first. It’s like having family around you 24/7.
I am the independent eyes and ears for the Department of Defense because as a QAS, you are the last line of defense to ensure warfighters have quality products to complete their mission safely. You are closing the circle of the products’ lifecycle.
I provide actionable acquisition insight to DoD by looking outside of the box. I’m always looking for positive ways to assist the contractors in their production and opportunities to save money, manpower and make work safer. This saves the government and taxpayers’ money.
DCMA is important to America’s warfighters because we are the eyes and ears of the warfighter. They put their trust and lives into our hands everyday by using products that we have inspected and ensured were manufactured under the strictest standards. As I leave for home every day, I know that my team has accomplished that task.
