DCMA Public Affairs –
My name is Bart Stewart, and this is “My DCMA.”
I am an operations research analyst assigned to the Defense Contract Management Agency Sustainment Group based at Defense Supply Center Richmond.
My job duties include researching, collecting, assembling and analyzing data in an effort to report on root cause determination, corrective action, implementation and follow-on review of systemic issues at customer buying commands, though mostly with Defense Logistics Agency Aviation at DSCR.
I have been a part of the DCMA team for three years, and it’s been exciting.
I like working at DCMA because I wholeheartedly feel that leadership embraces the maxim that every person can make a difference, and every person should try. That’s pretty darn empowering! It’s much more than someone simply saying, go find a problem and fix it fast. It creates an intriguing corporate culture that not only shapes how we organizationally socialize and communicate, but also lends to how we pursue collaboration, develop trust with each other, and collectively approach problem solving. I’ve been very fortunate to join a few remarkable teams that are fervently addressing demanding, far-reaching and cross-agency actions. With the Sustainment Group’s realignment to the Business Intelligence Center, I anticipate that there will not only be more opportunity, but also more resources made accessible to further those efforts. It’s been a genuinely rewarding experience. I’m incredibly thankful that leadership supports these efforts moving forward by navigating with a compass rather than a speedometer.
I am the independent eyes and ears for the Department of Defense because my on-site position at DLA Aviation provides opportunity to expedite resolution of acquisition problems and issues, facilitate communication between customers, assist in pre-award and post-award services and provide additional insight on DCMA capabilities and services.
I provide actionable acquisition insight to DoD by analyzing on-time delivery data, scoping issues, identifying top drivers, and determining influences on buying commands, suppliers and contract management offices.
DCMA is important to America’s warfighters because it serves as the vital link between the warfighter and industry through ensuring that product, cost and schedule are in compliance with contract terms and conditions in order to sufficiently meet warfighters’ needs.
