AMITYVILLE, N.Y. –
My DCMA showcases the Defense Contract Management Agency’s experienced and diverse workforce and highlights what being a part of the national defense team means to them. Today we meet Stanley Michaud.
My name is Stanley Michaud, and this is “My DCMA.”
I am a quality assurance specialist with DCMA Garden City, based at a contractor facility in Amityville, New York.
Since I am dual certified in the electronics and mechanical skillsets, I perform risk-based surveillance in accordance with DCMA policies and customer directions. I try to maintain a good work-life balance by working out and performing other activities. I am committed to supporting the mission and to further strengthening DCMA’s culture as one who values the uniqueness and contribution of each employee.
I have been a part of the DCMA team for almost 10 years. I started my federal career here in the Keystone program. I like working at DCMA because each individual, under the guidance of their first-level supervisor, is responsible for setting their own goals and expectations. I have been fortunate to learn in classrooms with DCMA employees from contract management offices all over the country, being exposed to a wealth of knowledge.
I have also had opportunities to inform day-to-day agency operations by collaborating with regional and headquarters’ personnel. With hard work and determination, I can develop the necessary skills and eventually go beyond my current position. I am responsible for identifying my own goals and earning my own achievements. Overall, I like that your DCMA career is what you make of it.
I like working at DCMA because of the contributions I make for the people I work with and the agency. By becoming one team, one voice, you can accomplish anything in an open environment where you can count on your teammates for support.
I am the independent eyes and ears for the Department of Defense because without people like me in an important field like quality assurance, the military would not be able to get the supplies or logistics support needed to accomplish its mission.
I provide actionable acquisition insight to DoD by conducting government source inspection at the contractor’s facility to ensure products manufactured are within requirements and shipped on time to the military.
DCMA is important to America’s warfighters because all products are built to the highest standards of quality. I know because it’s not just quality that goes into the product, but people who put quality in the product.
