Artemis I Booster Segments Uncap
KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Fla. – Exploration Ground System teams process the Artemis I booster segments and prepare to stack them with forward and aft assemblies at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida, June 16. The Space Launch System rocket booster segments arrived on June 15 by trains traveling from Utah near Northrop Grumman’s facility where they were manufactured. Defense Contract Management Agency NASA Product Operations Northrop Grumman Utah employees completed the final acceptance data packages and submitted their findings to NASA, which formally accepted delivery of the motor segments earlier this year. NASA’s mission partner, Northrop Grumman, has already produced the booster segments for the Artemis II mission and is in the process of manufacturing the rocket motors for the Artemis III.
