Detection to prevention: understanding customers’ expectations

FORT LEE, Va. — Surveillance of contractor processes is a more preventive approach than performing inspections to weed out defects that may have already been created.

Employees serve double duty in the reserves, National Guard

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. — “I get to work on the world’s most powerful aircraft, travel the world, and further the development of the young men and women who do the same,” said Michael Tibbetts, a DCMA Garden City QA.

Darren Blackwell, Defense Contract Management Agency Operations quality assurance acting director at Fort Lee, Virginia, recently participated in a leadership panel discussion in May at the Air War College in Montgomery, Alabama. Blackwell, who considers himself a DCMA ambassador, has been with the agency for 15 years and mentors employees to help them excel in their careers.

DCMA Operations QA director speaks at Air War College

Darren Blackwell told Air War College students about DCMA and offered leadership lessons learned throughout his career.

Erica Benjamin, a Defense Contract Management Agency Dallas quality assurance specialist, shadowed Rodney Mayo, the office’s deputy director, and other senior leaders during her recent leadership shadowing experience. She hoped to gain “insight into senior leader daily tasks and activities.” Programs like this support the agency’s Strategic Plan Initiative 3.2.2 — Establishing and Sustaining a Culture of Mentoring.
